women have lost their way in music just as much as the men

Ive heard various documentaries and discussions about the changes in mainstream black popular music and how the message in the music that has been lost ie from your gill scott herons and marvin gayes promoting positive images to the kind of negative messages sent out by most of todays mainstream music. However, focus is on how the men have changed but i believe the women have changed just as much. When they poured their hearts bout their men doin em wrong you felt it with them, their heartbreak their struggles and in a way they sent out feminist messages of strong and dedicated women. Yet now that feels dead, I don't believe in the women of music in todays industry and they often advertise a very submissive role to other young women, I guess Stupid Girls by Pink summed it up a bit but i miss real artists with real stories to tell us and that the main thing we're bothered about is the voice and the message they send out.
Personally, I aim to work against that grain and the minority of us that do show should try extra hard because music is powerful and we should be sending out strong powerful messages just like the one and only Aretha she asked for Respect and she bloody well deserved it, what an empowering message. Sisters lets put the respect back into our music and if you've been treated like dirt i wanna hear it in your music don't let him get away with it!
